Going to see Santa

It was a big day last Thursday!  Ethan got to see Santa.  Everyone knows how meeting Santa went, but there was a lot of fun had that lead up to the event.

This is an annual event for the Cummins High Horsepower Engineering team - there is a large lunch for all families, some reflective words on the year that has passed, and an ending note that Santa may be coming!  This year the location changed because the venue usually used was too small.

Here's Ethan and Grandad before the lunch started.

Ethan took the camera for a little spin.

Ethan and Grandma saying "cheese"!

Ethan liked the feel of the bleachers and took a few laps around them.

After lunch, Santa made his way down from the North Pole!  Or, Grandad went into the locker room and put on a Santa suit.  My mom heard some 10 year old say "wow Santa's pretty skinny".  There is some padding under there - next year we may need to make that bowl full of jelly a little thicker!

Notice how Ethan wasn't too into things - he didn't stop drinking he just kinda looked up as if to say "ok who is this guy in a red suit with bells - he's sorta loud saying 'Ho Ho Ho', not sure I am into this".

Santa and Mrs. Claus!

We waited with Ethan as he watched all of the other kids sit on Santa's lap (and only one little boy screamed - which didn't help things but there were at least 45 other kids who didn't cry).  We thought letting him see the other kids with Santa would ease his fears.  Oh how wrong we were.  It didn't work at all.  But we had to try, of course!

Grandad knew Ethan would cry - he did last year too.  Maybe next year he will be better?  How quickly Ethan forgot about the scary bearded man in the red suit when he got a toy!

It was also pushing Ethan's nap time.  He got into Grandma's car screaming his head off (he isn't into his coat or his car seat as of late).  Grandma said about 10 seconds after the car started Ethan fell asleep.  However, it was a short nap (Grandma claimed that Santa scared his nap out of him!).  Hopefully it wasn't too traumatic for the little man or for Santa.  There's always next year for a re-do!
