It's a BDD (big damn deal) when I see anyone "famous"! There was the time I saw Jevon Kearse (a Titan's football player) at the gas station and was mesmerized by the size of his earrings. And the time I was at Hilton Head (or Amelia Island - can't remember which) with my head hanging out of the Previa and we passed Martina Navratilova - my mom told me with enough time for me to see her as we pulled away. You might remember my slight obsession with a W list celebrity (that's way down on the list) Charles Osgood when he was in town.
Well this, my friends, was SO MUCH COOLER than all of those previous spottings because it happened in Columbus, IN and it was with some major celebrities! Can you tell who it is???
Of course no one can tell who it is - these shots came from Melanie's friend who was sitting in the same restaurant as we were and happened to snap a photo (thanks!).
It's John Mellencamp and Meg Ryan!!
OK, John was born in a small town (Seymour Indiana which is right down the road), so it's probably not the oddest thing for him to be in Columbus, IN. But, having been preoccupied with Ethan, baby #2, school, and work ... I haven't caught up with People magazine for 3 years and didn't know that Meg Ryan and Mellencamp were an item! Maybe even married??
They are both SOOO small! Meg seriously probably weighs 95 pounds. They both had all black on - she had some baggy Nike running pants on and they both had jackets (in August). He hair was cute - curly. I think she's had her lips done!
They ordered their food (John asked for a beer - overheard by friends sitting closer to the counter than we were) and then went outside to "hide" ... it was delivered to them on the sidewalk. We think there were paparazzi because of some large camera equipment held by people who also sat at the same restaurant we were in. (there was also a sighting of them at the library!)
Wow - what a day. Columbus, IN is a happening place!
OK, back to normal life now!

If the cummins gig doesn't work out, you definitely have a chance of being on the midwest beat for People Magazine. You seem to catch them all. I've been singing "Small town" all day!
