Frenchmen and Buffalo

As an anniversary treat, Corey and I headed to French Lick for the weekend. It's called french Lick because the French were the first to settle, and at one time the area was home to a lot of buffalo because of the salt licks. Therefore, the name French Lick was born.

We got to the West Baden hotel later on Friday and went straight for a drink and dinner.




Corey used his PhD title for the first time in writing!


After dinner, we took the shuttle over to the casino. We played roulette and I lost right away. Corey won and cashed out!


The next day we played golf at the Donald Ross course. It was a great day for golf - except for the wind!

After some great golf, we went to dinner at 1875 steakhouse in French Lick Resort. It was very good!

And the highlight of the weekend: playing the new Pete Dye course at French Lick. It had just opened on Friday and we played on Sunday. The course itself is done but the driving range and some of the cart paths are still being worked on. It was absolutely gorgeous!





The course was really tough! Tiny fairways that were nearly impossible to hit. I did have a birdie and a few boogies which made me REALLY happy. We won't discuss scores on the other holes.

What a great weekend! A special treat for our 4 year anniversary.
