Our morning started at 5:30AM with the tornado warning sirens sounding (and the sirens just happen to be about 3 tenths of a mile from our house - it was LOUD!). Pretty odd for a Thanksgiving in Indiana! Check out the radar aftermath.
I grabbed Ethan from his crib at 6:25 just before the worst was supposed to get to our neck of the woods. We didn't have to go to the basement, though. Actually, the entire thing was anti-climactic really. Which is a very good thing.
On to turkey!
OK well, before turkey ... Ethan ate some food - with his Happy Thanksgiving bib. We tried giving him macaroni and cheese with squash (baby food of course). He absolutely hated it. We have never, to this point, given him something that he wouldn't eat. He almost shook with disgust when eating this. And when he nearly gagged we stopped trying and went on to apples and cinnamon oatmeal - much better!
Now time for turkey - of the deep frying variety. Yum! Ethan was fascinated with the sound of the popping oil. Notice it's still raining.
Showing off the "baby's first thanksgiving" shirt.
After Corey made the turkey (which was good!), we were ready to go to grandma and grandad's house - along with great grandma white and great uncle steve. Ethan was saying: Come on guys, I have some turkey to try. Let's get going!
Over the lake and through the woods to grandmothers house we went! Ethan had never tasted any meat before - so this was a big day. He tried turkey (and really liked it). We also gave him some regular potatoes and sweet potatoes. He wasn't a huge fan of those ... but he was also getting very sleepy by this point.
After Thanksgiving lunch, Ethan did what all people should do after eating a big dinner ... he took a long nap :)
Happy Thanksgiving! It was a great first Thanksgiving for Ethan. And we have so much to be thankful for!!!!
